All of our automatic watches are manufactured by highly skilled watchmakers using traditional watchmaking techniques in small workshops in Switzerland and Germany. In almost every case, an automatic watch can also be wound by hand.

RUFUS'S COMMENT

There's something strangely soothing about the pendulum-like movement of the rotor in an automatic watch. As you walk or move your hands, the angle of your arm changes. This causes the rotor, a weighted flat metal plate, to wind the mainspring of the mechanical movement in your watch. What a great concept, and one that has never gone out of style, ever since the end of the 19th century.

You can also wind most automatic watches by hand, using the crown rather than the rotor. For many of us, complex machinery powered by delicate springs at such a miniature scale is simply fascinating.
