These fine examples of a German luxury watch offer classic German design: clarity and usability brought together in a sophisticated combination of form and functionality. The high-end quartz watches are made in Germany, with Swiss movements, and are vastly superior to widely sold cheap plastic quartz watches with Asian movements.

As for the watches with mechanical movements, both hand-wound and automatic, these German mechanical watches are prized by collectors, because in a German mechanical watch, the quality of manufacture is very high, and because these carefully selected independent brands typically produce only a small number of watches each year.

A German-made luxury watch, and this applies to both the men's watches and ladies' watches, typically incorporates advanced materials such as titanium, ceramics or carbon fiber, and will very often feature, at a reasonable price, the same sapphire glass, watch movement and high-grade stainless steel found in very expensive Swiss watches.

It used to be the case that the "Swiss-made" appellation was an assurance of the best quality in wristwatches. But things change. These days, there's no denying that certain German watch brands have become widely respected in the watch industry as meeting the highest industry standards and consumer expectations.

Yet many of these wristwatches never make their way outside Europe. In the first place, they are produced by small traditional workshops in extremely limited quantities. And these typically family-run operations have little interest in exporting their watches.
